NTSC Test Signals
The TSG200 provides six NTSC test signals. These 10-Bit signals provide for both studio production and first line maintenance. The signal set is:
- SMPTE color bars
- NTC 7 composite
- 5-step staircase
- Black burst
Multiple Black Bursts
For driving small production systems, the TSG200 provides multiple black burst outputs. It is configurable to provide either two test signal outputs and four black bursts, or one test signal output and five full time black bursts.
ID and Countdown
The TSG200 has two lines of ID text that can be positioned vertically anywhere on the active field. The first line of this ID can also be located in the vertical interval. Eight ID captions can be stored and recalled at the front panel or via the remote control. Up to four captions may be cycled in sequence, with each displayed for approximately four seconds.
The tape leader countdown provides an accompanying audio tone pulse that is synchronous with the countdown.
For automatic identification, the TSG200 generates a "source ID" pulse code on line 16 of the vertical interval. The Tektronix VM700A Video Measurement Set uses this code for identification of sources on displays and printouts of measurement routines. The code is internally selectable and may be enabled and disabled from the front panel.
Audio Tone with Channel ID
For continuity checks and level testing, the TSG200 offers a phase locked, two channel, 1 kHz audio tone. An adjustable rate identification pulse is provided on channel one.
Ground closure remote control is provided for the following functions:
- Test signal select
- Character identification enable
- Initiate tape leader countdown
- Source identification enable
- Channel one audio tone identification enable
- Character identification preset recall
- Sequence identification presets
- Front panel disable
