How do I rename a preset on a WFM700?

Question :

How do I rename a preset on a WFM700?

Answer :

Below is a brief tutorial for creating and renaming presets in the WFM700 series instruments:

To set a preset on the WFM700, simply configure the instrument to your liking, then press the "Preset" button on the front panel (right above the power button). This will bring up the preset menu at the bottom of the screen like the one shown below:

You will probably notice that the first 4 buttons in this menu are grayed out, we'll fix that in a minute, for now press the "-more- 1 of 2" button in the lower right corner. This will bring you to the full preset menu as shown below:

4519-2

From this menu you can create up to 42 presets, rename them, delete them or promote them to shortcuts.

As an example, let's create a shortcut named "BBC"... Touch the "Save Preset" button at the bottom of the screen to save the current instrument settings into a preset. Once you have done this you will be asked to touch one of the 42 preset slots to save this preset into as shown below:

For the sake of this example, let's choose slot 1. A message will briefly appear indicating that the preset is being stored. When this is done, you will see that "Preset 1" in the upper left corner no longer says it is empty as shown below:

Now, since "Preset 1" isn't a very helpful name, let's change what that says. Touch the "Rename Preset" button at the bottom of the screen and then touch the "Preset 1" button to rename it. When you do this, a keyboard like the one shown below will appear on the screen allowing you to enter a new name.

Let's name this "BBC". When you're done renaming the preset, touch the "Done" button. A brief message will appear indicating that the name is changing. You now have a named preset which can always be recalled from the big preset screen but that's a bit of an eye sore, let's make it so it can be recalled from the small preset menu.

Touch the "Promote to Shortcut" button in the bottom of the screen to promote a preset to a shortcut which will make it easier to load later. You will be asked to touch the preset you wish to promote, let's touch the new "BBC" preset, now you will be asked to touch one of the 4 shortcut slots at the top of the screen to promote this preset into, let's put it in slot 1. After another brief message, you will see that "BBC" is now stored in the first shortcut slot. Press the "Preset" button on the front panel to exit the preset menu.

From now on, you will be able to access the "BBC" preset simply by pressing the "Preset" button and touching the "BBC" button that appears in the bottom menu (see below). You can repeat these steps to create up to 42 presets and assign any 4 of them to be accessible quickly from the preset submenu.
