I cannot connect to the TLA Application using TPI+ PPI+ or ActiveX from my client PC. How do I set it up? My TLA or my client PC is running Windows 2000.

Answer :

Here is the procedure to setup TPI/PPI on Windows 2000. These instructions need to be done on both the TLA and the Client PC.

1. Click Start -> Run and type dcomcnfg.
2. Click the Default Properties tab, and set the Default Authentication Level to None.
3. Click the Applications tab, and select the Tektronix TLA Application and click Properties.
4. Click the General tab, and set the Authentication Level to None.
5. Click the Location tab. For the Client PC, select Run application on the following computer (uncheck all others) and enter the name of the TLA instrument you wish to connect to in the edit field. For the TLA, check Run application on this computer.
6. Click the Security tab, and select Use custom access permissions.
7. Click the Edit button.
a) Click the Registry Value Permissions tab, and click the Add button.
b) Scroll down the list; select and add Everyone to the list with Type of Access set to Allow Access.
8. Click the Security tab, and select Use custom launch permissions.
9. Click the Edit button.
a) Click the Registry Value Permissions tab, and then click the Add button.
b) Scroll down the list; select and add Everyone to the list with Type of Access set to Allow Launch.
10. Click the Security tab, and select Use custom configuration permissions.
11. Click the Edit button.
a) Click the Registry Value Permissions tab, and then click the Add button.
b) Scroll down the list; select and add Everyone to the list with Type of Access set to Full Control.
12. Click the Identity page, and select The Interactive user.
13. Click Ok to close all open pages, shut down the TLA application, and restart it before attempting to make any connections.
